Steven Page IS Barenaked Ladies

Earlier this month David and I (and our friend Laurel) went to see Steven Page perform live in Portland. For those of you who don't know; Page used to be one of the "lead" singers with the band Barenaked Ladies. A couple of years ago he left the band due to a number of "creative differences". I'm not gonna lie; I was pretty upset. I don't know if I've ever mentioned how much I love BNL, but I really do. And part of what I loved was Steve. His voice, his banter with Ed Robertson, the whole vibe.

Last April David and I went to see BNL perform in Portland. It was the first time I had seen them without Steve, and I was worried. But, they did a great job and we enjoyed the show. I did miss Steve's voice on certain songs. Kevin sings Sound of Your Voice now, and it just isn't the same. And, there are some songs that they just don't do any more, like Break Your Heart. But they added a few new things to the show that made it a lot of fun.

This year we went on the Barenaked Ladies cruise. It was a great time, and again I found the band's performance enjoyable, but something was still missing.

Then we went to the Steven Page concert. OMG! I finally felt like I had been to a BNL concert. I've missed hearing him perform. I really love the sound of his voice.

After the show we waited for him to come out to sign autographs. I had him sign my BNL iPhone case; he laughingly commented on the signatures already on it.

We posed for pictures and he seemed genuinely grateful that people were still supporting him.
(Not sure what's going on with my boobs in this picture...they seem a bit wacky. Must be from the stretched position I'm in. I hope.)

So, yeah. I kind of feel like I can't keep saying I'm a fan of Barenaked Ladies, when its really Steven Page that I love.

Well, I am sure you are not the only one! Steve is an amazing performing with or without Barenaked Ladies. I will count myself lucky enough to say I am a fan of both. It is great to be me :)
